Police in Kolkata tracked down and rescued a minor girl from near the Salap intersection under Domjur police station after she was allegedly abducted from the Jorabagan area. According to police sources, the accused youth, accompanied by a few friends, forcibly took the girl in a car around 5 PM on July 19.
The perpetrator reportedly pressured the minor to marry him before carrying out the abduction. Following a missing complaint lodged by the victim's parents at the Jorabagan police station, investigators examined CCTV footage from the surrounding areas to identify and locate the vehicle.
Upon rescuing the victim on Tuesday evening, authorities conducted a comprehensive medical examination and recorded her statement. Based on the victim's testimony and physical assessment, law enforcement officers registered a formal case under Sections 87 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Five individuals, including the primary accused, have been taken into police custody in connection with the kidnapping and coercion attempt.
