BJP gherao 'New TMC' MLA Sandipan Saha's house in Entally, protest over 'cut money'
An eight-year-old girl was found murdered in Agra, with her body recovered from inside a metal container in a tenant’s room, nearly 30 hours after she went missing. The child, daughter of a shoe trader, had her throat slit, and her body was concealed under a layer of flour in an apparent attempt to hide the crime. The discovery on Wednesday night triggered shock and anger in the locality, with protests erupting soon after.
The girl had gone missing on Tuesday afternoon while playing outside her home. When she failed to return, her family initially assumed she had gone for tuition, but concern grew as hours passed. Police launched a search operation, scanning CCTV footage and questioning locals. She was last seen buying snacks from a nearby shop before heading back towards her residence.
Suspicion eventually turned towards a tenant, identified as Sunil, who lived in a rented room within the same premises and worked as a painter. He had reportedly assisted the family in searching for the child and even accompanied them to the police station. However, suspicion deepened after he suddenly locked his room and went missing. Acting on this, police broke open the room and discovered the child’s body hidden inside a flour container, covered with a sack and a quilt.
The incident sparked public outrage, with residents blocking roads and demanding immediate arrest of the accused. Police officials intervened to bring the situation under control and assured swift action. A case of kidnapping and murder has been registered, and multiple teams have been deployed to trace the absconding suspect.
The postmortem conducted by a panel of doctors confirmed two deep cut injuries on the neck, along with scratch marks on the body, with excessive blood loss cited as the cause of death. The body was later handed over to the family for last rites. Authorities have assured that the case will be pursued rigorously and justice will be ensured.
