The body of a 50-year-old man, Biren Sarkar, was found early Friday in a garden in Khairtola, Nazirpur Gram Panchayat, under Malda’s Manikchak block. Sarkar had reportedly left his home on Thursday afternoon to visit the market and did not return.
Family members began searching for him late Thursday night after he failed to return home. On Friday morning, locals discovered his body in the garden and informed his family. Police from Manikchak station arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation.
The body was sent to Malda Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination. Police stated that the exact cause of death would be confirmed after the autopsy. Local residents mentioned that Sarkar had a history of heart-related ailments, though no official confirmation of the cause of death has been provided.
Authorities are investigating all possible angles, including whether foul play was involved. Local residents have been asked to provide any information that could assist in the investigation. Further updates are expected after the completion of the post-mortem and police inquiry.
