A wedding ceremony was allegedly held inside the campus of Sundarban Mahavidyalaya in Kakdwip, South 24 Parganas, causing administrative and political concern. The event reportedly took place in front of the college union room, where a man and woman were seen exchanging garlands and completing traditional wedding rituals. The man is said to be a former student leader and was previously associated with student politics on campus.
According to available details, the person who got married is believed to be close to Kakdwip MLA Manturam Pakhira, who currently serves as Chairman of the college's Governing Body. Questions are being raised about how the college premises were used for a personal event and whether prior permission was granted by the authorities. The current General Secretary (GS) of the college allegedly shared visuals of the wedding from his personal account, bringing the matter into the public domain.
College Principal Subhankar Chakraborty stated that he was not present at the college on the day the incident took place. No official clarification has yet been issued by the college administration regarding whether action will be taken or if any inquiry has been initiated. The incident has led to widespread attention, especially in light of the institutional affiliation of the individuals involved.
