Four policemen, including an assistant sub-inspector, were injured in a mob attack in Bihar's Madhepura district on Wednesday.
Bihar police on Friday arrested seven people in connection with Wednesday's mob attack on a police team in Madhepura district in which four policemen, including an assistant sub-inspector, were injured, officials said.Police said the accused were arrested after a large-scale raid.
The incident took place at Chatra under Arar Police Station after a police team led by ASI Raju Mahto reached the village after receiving a call regarding tension over a certain plot.
"The police were trying to resolve the dispute and while they were returning, a mob of men, women and children attacked the police vehicle with conventional weapons," said the ASI, who was seriously injured.He is currently undergoing treatment at Madhepura Medical College and Hospital."Somehow we managed to survive. The mob also tried to steal our weapons,” he said.
Station House Officer (SHO) Roshan Kumar said, “The ASI was badly beaten and passed out in the police vehicle. Somehow they got to the police station.” "We have lodged an FIR against Rakesh Yadav, Mukesh Yadav, Gulsan Kumar, Radha Devi, Geeta Devi, Puja Devi and Mitthu Yadav alias Mithilesh Kumar," he said. "After a massive raid, all the accused have been arrested," he added.
On the other hand, the accused claimed that the women were assaulted by the police, which led to violence. However, the SHO rejected their allegations and claimed that the police would take action against the accused.
