Sodepur flyover to shut every weekend from July 19 for urgent structural repairs
A private four-wheeler was vandalised by a mob in the Rajarhat Choumatha area. According to police, around 50–60 people surrounded the vehicle near the traffic booth and attacked it using sticks, rods, and stones. The car sustained major damage in the incident, and CCTV footage from the area recorded the entire episode. Seven individuals have been arrested in connection with the attack.
Police sources stated that the vehicle had been involved in a hit-and-run case a few days ago in the Raigachhi area, where it allegedly struck a person and fled the scene. Locals had attempted to stop the car at the time but were unsuccessful. However, they captured photos of the car on their mobile phones, which helped them identify it later. The same vehicle was spotted in the Jagardanga area, prompting local residents to attempt to stop it again.
The vehicle eventually came to a halt near the Rajarhat Choumatha traffic booth. Soon after, a large group of people gathered and began attacking the car. Police have recovered the CCTV footage and are conducting further investigation. They are also verifying the earlier hit-and-run complaint and examining whether any additional individuals were involved in the vandalism incident.
