Students of Patna Women’s College Department of Microbiology participated in a modeling competition organized on the campus here on Thursday. A total of nine groups participated in the competition and prepared models showing different structures of biomolecules such as glucose, types of DNA, RNA, triglycerides and beta-folded sheet.
The 3-D models prepared by undergraduate students provided a clear understanding of the basic components of the organisms of the biotic world. The models were judged by a team of experts comprising Zoology Department Head Shobha Srivastava; chemistry department teacher, Rabindra Nath Majumdar and botany department teacher, Urvashi Sinha.
The top three models on 'triglycerides', 'RNA' and beta-folded sheet' were awarded. Science College Outreach Program: Patna Science College on Thursday organized an outreach program with the United States-India Educational Foundation to familiarize students with various Fulbright scholarship schemes.
USIEF Coordinator Pratibha Nair and Regional Officer for Eastern India Sumanta Basu presented details about the scholarships and their benefits for studying in the US.
