Modi cabinet approves 12 new industrial cities project worth ₹28,602 crore under NICDP

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved 12 new project proposals under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP), with an estimated investment of ₹28,602 crore. These projects aim to transform India into a global manufacturing powerhouse, according to an official government release.

The new industrial areas will be strategically located across India, including sites in Khurpia (Uttarakhand), Rajpura-Patiala (Punjab), Dighi (Maharashtra), Palakkad (Kerala), Agra and Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh), Gaya (Bihar), Zaheerabad (Telangana), Orvakal and Kopparthy (Andhra Pradesh), and Jodhpur-Pali (Rajasthan).

The 12th project, yet to be named, will likely be in Haryana or Jammu & Kashmir due to the model code of conduct in place following election announcements. These sites will host state-of-the-art industrial smart cities, designed to foster a vibrant industrial ecosystem and create regional manufacturing hubs across the country.
