A tragic incident unfolded in Balagarh, Hooghly district, as a motorcyclist, identified as Animesh Das (27), lost his life after allegedly being struck by a police vehicle. Animesh, a resident of Balagarh Araji Bhabanipur village, was en-route from Balagarh to Jiraat on Saturday morning when the incident occurred at the Hajarapada intersection of STKK Road. Sources report that a police car collided with Animesh's bike from behind, causing him to immediately fall off.
The injured rider was rushed to the hospital, where medical professionals pronounced him dead. The incident has ignited tension in the area, leading to road blockades by local residents in response to the accident.
As of the current news report, there has been no official response from the police regarding the alleged collision. The matter is currently under investigation
