A motorcyclist was injured after a bus allegedly jumped a red signal and collided with his vehicle near the Salt Lake City Centre crossing on Monday. The impact threw the rider onto the road, prompting immediate intervention by traffic personnel stationed nearby.
According to details, the motorcycle was travelling from Bidhannagar Hospital towards Bidhannagar Municipality when the incident occurred. At the same time, a bus was approaching from the direction of City Centre One and heading towards Karunamoyee. Although the traffic signal for the bus was reportedly red and green for the Municipality-bound lane, the bus allegedly continued at high speed and struck the motorcycle.
Traffic Guard police stopped the bus at the spot soon after the collision. The injured rider was rushed to Bidhannagar Sub-District Hospital for treatment. Further action is expected as authorities look into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
