MP farmer rolls on floor at collector's office in Mandsaur, alleges land fraud

65-year-old farmer Shankarlal Patidar rolled on the floor with folded hands outside the Public Grievance room at the Collector’s office in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh. Patidar's actions were captured in a video that has gone viral, highlighting his desperate attempt to reclaim his allegedly stolen land.

According to Patidar, an official named Babu Deshmukh fraudulently transferred ownership of his 9 bighas of agricultural land to Deshmukh's son in 2010. Despite numerous visits and appeals to authorities including the President, Prime Minister, and Chief Minister, Patidar claims he has received no response. He alleges that local goons and miscreants have threatened him to vacate the land forcibly, leading to fears for his safety and that of his family.

Sitamau Tehsildar Manoharlal Verma acknowledged the dispute, stating that the land in question was originally jointly owned by Patidar and his family. However, Verma clarified that in 2010, Patidar's family members sold the land and transferred ownership, which Patidar now disputes.
