Crime rates in Bihar are escalating at an alarming pace, and now, even political party workers are not safe from these violent incidents. The increasing boldness of criminals in the state is becoming a serious concern, with reports of robberies, shootings, and murders growing more frequent. In the latest instance of violence, a worker closely associated with Purnia MP Pappu Yadav was targeted in a late-night shooting.
The shooting took place near the bus stand under the Maranga police station area. The victim, identified as Sajid Mehboob Khan, a loyal worker of Pappu Yadav, was shot late at night and rushed to Max Seven Hospital in critical condition. Surgeons managed to remove the bullet, and Sajid is currently undergoing treatment. The attack has left the local community in shock, with tension prevailing in the area following the incident.
Eyewitnesses reported that a group of men got out of a car and engaged in a confrontation with Sajid before firing several rounds at him. According to an individual who was with Sajid during the attack, the shooters were land brokers who frequently engage in criminal activities in the city. The chaos that ensued during the shooting led to widespread panic as people fled the scene in fear.
MP Pappu Yadav condemned the attack, attributing the violent activities to land mafias operating in Purnia. He expressed grave concerns over the growing influence of these criminal elements and called for immediate action to curb their activities. Yadav stressed that such incidents reflect the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, which urgently needs to be addressed.
Meanwhile, the police have begun investigating the incident. According to initial reports, Sajid Mehboob Khan works at Munna Medical in Line Bazaar. Authorities have registered a case against the attackers and are actively pursuing leads to bring the perpetrators to justice.
