In a major update for Chennai Super Kings fans, CEO Kasi Viswanathan has confirmed that MS Dhoni will continue playing in the Indian Premier League 2026 season, putting an end to all retirement speculations. The former India captain, who has led CSK to five IPL titles, will return for another season despite concerns over his fitness.
Speaking in an interview with Provoke Lifestyle magazine, Viswanathan revealed that Dhoni has no plans to hang up his boots yet. “No, he is not retiring for this IPL,” he said, adding humorously, “I’ll check with him and let you know,” when asked about Dhoni’s long-term plans — a response very much in line with the captain’s trademark unpredictability.
Dhoni, who retired from international cricket in 2019, continues to remain the backbone of CSK and one of the most beloved figures in Indian cricket. Every year, his retirement rumours spark emotional debates among fans, but once again, “Thala” has decided to extend his glorious IPL journey
