Mumbai's murder accused arrested in Kolkata's Tiljala; Court grants transit remand

A man accused of committing a murder in Mumbai was arrested from Kolkata's Tiljala area following a joint operation by law enforcement agencies. Acting on specific intelligence, a team from the Mumbai Police arrived in Kolkata and raided a location on G.J. Khan Road on Saturday, apprehending the suspect identified as Hassan Nur Alam. The accused had reportedly fled Mumbai after committing the crime to evade law enforcement agencies.

According to police sources, the murder stems from an alleged close relationship between the suspect's wife and the victim, Arbaz. Driven by resentment, Hassan Nur Alam allegedly murdered Arbaz in a brutal manner. A murder case was subsequently registered at the Mundra Police Station in Mumbai, launching an investigation that eventually traced the suspect's location to his hideout in Tiljala.

Following his arrest on Saturday, the Mumbai Police team produced the accused before the Alipore Court on Monday to seek a transit remand. The court granted the remand, allowing investigators to take the suspect back to Mumbai for further questioning. Authorities plan to interrogate him in custody to ascertain the complete sequence of events and gather further evidence regarding the crime.
