The Mumbai Traffic Police Control Room received a threatening message on Friday, indicating plans for serial bomb blasts across the city with claims of explosives planted at six locations. The message received around 12.30 am, prompted heightened alertness throughout the agency. The crime branch of Mumbai police and Maharashtra ATS (anti-terrorist squad) were alerted about the threat message and a probe is underway to track down the sender
Investigation is underway to to trace the person who sent the message. A case has been registered under Indian Penal Code section 505 (2), which pertains to statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred, or ill-will between classes, the official said.
Earlier, Chattrapati Shivaji Vastu Sangrayala located in Colaba, and Nehru Science Centre in Worli received bomb threats via email on Friday (January 6). The emails claimed the presence of bombs in the respective places that could detonate at any minute. A case has been registered under IPC section 505(2), focusing on statements fostering enmity or ill-will between classes.
