Murshidabad's Suti turns violent as thousands clash with police over Waqf Bill protest

Murshidabad’s Sazur Mor area under Suti police station limits witnessed large-scale violence on Friday during protests against the Waqf Bill. Thousands of people from Suti and Shamsherganj took out multiple rallies with various demands.

The situation turned tense when protestors reached Sazur crossing and attempted to block National Highway 12. Police intervened to prevent the blockade, following which protestors allegedly became aggressive. According to reports, demonstrators began hurling bombs, pelting stones, and opened fire at the police.

Law enforcement officials tried to bring the situation under control while ensuring the safety of commuters and residents in the area. Police forces are continuing efforts to restore calm and monitor the situation. The region remains tense, and authorities are maintaining high alert across nearby areas.
