Disruption in metro services between Dumdum and Dakshineswar; normal services resume after 2 hours
On Monday, July 10, Muslim World League Secretary General Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa began his planned five-day tour of India.
During his visit, he is expected to meet with several government officials, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. S. Jaishankar, and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, the latter of whom will jointly address a rally at the Center for Islamic Culture in New Delhi.
The report quoted certain anonymous sources as saying that Al-Issa may also be visiting President Droupadi Murma when he is in Delhi.
Other features of his itinerary are said to include meeting the president of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, addressing religious leaders at the Vivekanand International Foundation, visiting Akshardham, attending Friday prayers at Jama Masjid, and a trip to Agra.
As Secretary General of the Muslim World League, Al-Issa is a leading global advocate for moderate Islam and religious cooperation and unity. Under his leadership, the organization engaged in several bridging initiatives regarding relations with other religious communities. However, his origin is not a religious leader or personality.
Before taking on his current role at the Muslim World League in 2016, Al-Issa earned his reputation as a moderate reformer as Saudi Arabia's justice minister, where he carried out the crown prince's new-age reform agenda. Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud (popularly known as MBS), is particularly known for his work promoting women's rights in the highly conservative Arab nation.
