A Muslim youth was held at gunpoint at the Bageshwar Dham temple in Madhya Pradesh's Chhatarpur district on Tuesday, triggering panic among devotees.
The accused has been identified as Razzan Khan, a resident of Indrapuri Colony in Shivpuri district. He was wandering around the Parikrama path in the temple when some people became suspicious and informed the police.
Officials from Bamitha Police Station nabbed the youth and recovered a 315 caliber country pistol along with some live cartridges from him.
It is suspected that the accused went to the temple with an evil intention. He was taken into custody and further investigations are underway.
The incident also raised questions about security measures at the popular temple, given that the man was able to enter undetected while carrying a gun.
