Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
The Narcotic Cell of the Detective Department achieved a significant breakthrough early Friday morning by arresting a drug peddler at the busy Babughat Bus Stand. Based on credible intelligence, a raid was conducted under the jurisdiction of Maidan Police Station on December 18.
The operation culminated in the arrest of 46-year-old Bapi Thakur, also known as Dudhnath Thakur, at approximately 2:06 AM on December 19. A resident of Chitpore, Thakur was found in possession of 103 grams of a brownish granular substance suspected to be heroin.
During the search, which was conducted under strict videography and in the presence of a Gazetted Officer and witnesses, the police also seized a mobile phone and ₹600 in cash. To aid further investigation, the team took snapshots of his mobile contacts to track the wider network. Preliminary interrogation revealed that the accused was planning to board a bus bound for Paradeep, Odisha, to deliver the contraband. He reportedly procured the drugs from an individual named 'Bapi' in the Bongaon area near the international border.
