Nawada SI suspended after slapping newlywed female constable in temple, video goes viral

Sub-Inspector Sachin Kumar, a 2020 batch officer posted at Narhat police station in Nawada, Bihar, was suspended following a violent altercation with his newlywed wife, Suman Kumari, a female constable at the Women’s Police Station in Nawada. The incident occurred at the Shobhnath temple in Nawada after the couple's wedding ceremony, which had been performed according to Hindu rituals.

The situation escalated when the female constable, Suman Kumari, began recording the wedding. Sub-Inspector Sachin Kumar became agitated and, in a moment of rage, slapped his wife in the presence of bystanders. The incident was filmed by Kumari, and the video later circulated online, sparking public outrage.

Upon reviewing the viral video, Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhinav Dheeman ordered an immediate internal inquiry into the matter. Following the investigation, which corroborated the allegations of misconduct, Sachin Kumar was placed on suspension by the confidential branch of the police department. The suspension order was confirmed by SP Dheeman, who stated that the officer would remain on line duty pending further investigation.

Both officers, who had reportedly been in a long-term relationship before their marriage, now face internal scrutiny. Sachin Kumar is a resident of Dharhara in the Munger district, while Suman Kumari hails from the Kurseela area of Katihar district. Authorities are continuing the investigation into the incident to determine further actions or disciplinary measures.
