"Kolkata to get Water Metro connectivity," says Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari
Tension flared in the Saihati area of Bhangar Assembly constituency during polling after ISF chairman and outgoing MLA Nawsad Siddiqui arrived near a polling booth and was reportedly surrounded by protesting Trinamool Congress workers. The sudden gathering created a heated atmosphere in the area, though voting activity continued under tight security arrangements.
According to reports, the protesters raised slogans, including “Jai Bangla,” leading to a charged situation on the ground. Nawsad Siddiqui reacted strongly, alleging that despite a peaceful election environment, Trinamool workers were intentionally attempting to create unrest and disrupt the polling process in the constituency.
The situation did not escalate into any major clash, as security forces were quickly deployed to control the crowd and maintain order around the polling booth. Authorities ensured that the situation remained under control and voting continued without interruption.
The Trinamool Congress, however, denied the allegations made by Nawsad Siddiqui. Meanwhile, responding to the situation, Siddiqui claimed that the individuals involved were acting as political agents and asserted that he had carried out development work worth ₹30 lakh in the area, countering claims made by locals who questioned his presence and contribution.
