In a recent incident that has stirred controversy, National Conference (NC) leader Farooq Abdullah faced criticism from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), journalists, and the public for his behavior towards a young female journalist during an interaction. The incident, captured on video, shows Farooq Abdullah responding to the journalist's political queries with personal questions and unsolicited advice.
The journalist, identified as Urfana Muneer, persistently attempted to ask political questions to Farooq Abdullah, but he diverted the conversation towards her personal life, asking about her marital status and family background. He even offered unsolicited advice regarding her future marriage prospects.
Throughout the exchange, Farooq Abdullah alternated between speaking in Kashmiri and Hindi. At one point, when the journalist mentioned that she was too young to get married, Farooq Abdullah made a controversial remark, suggesting that she should be cautious about her future husband's fidelity.
The incident received strong backlash on social media, with many individuals expressing their disapproval of Farooq Abdullah's conduct. Aditya Raj Kaul, a journalist, shared the video with the caption, "Introducing Misogynist Farooq Abdullah."
BJP's social media head, Amit Malviya, also criticized the veteran politician for his behavior in the video.
Farooq Abdullah, I.N.D.I Alliance veteran and father of ever pontificating Omar Abdullah, is at his abominable best. If there was ever a case of making workplace uncomfortable for women, then this is it.
