Zepto, the fast-growing quick-commerce platform, is facing a storm of online criticism, with nearly 10,000 Reddit users uniting in a dedicated community to highlight what they call “unethical practices” by the app. The subreddit, titled F** Zepto*, has gained over 9,200 members since its launch in January 2025, growing into a hub of daily grievances from frustrated customers.
The community’s bio says its mission is to hold Zepto accountable by exposing dark patterns, hidden charges, MRP manipulation, and misleading discounts. Among the most common complaints are customers being unable to fully utilize their promotional “Zepto Cash” and facing inflated bills due to a laundry list of additional charges like rain fees, cash handling charges, and small cart fees.
Many users also report issues with late deliveries, poor customer support, and being stuck with expired or damaged products. The most alarming concern appears to be the perception that the app uses manipulative pricing tactics—especially showing higher MRPs than actual market rates.
While competitors like Blinkit and Instamart also face scrutiny, none have dedicated Reddit communities of this scale or focus. The surge in digital backlash raises questions about transparency in India’s fast-growing quick-commerce space.
