Netanyahu advocates Israeli Control of Gaza-Egypt border zone amid ongoing conflict

In a news conference during the 13th week of Israel's war against Gaza's ruling Hamas, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his stance on the control of the border zone between the Gaza Strip and Egypt. Netanyahu asserted that Israel should have control over the Philadelphi Corridor, also known as the southern stoppage point of Gaza, to ensure the demilitarization sought by Israel. He argued that any other arrangement would not guarantee the desired outcome.

Netanyahu disclosed that the ongoing conflict with Hamas and other regional fronts would likely persist for many more months, emphasizing the comprehensive nature of the current battle. Israel's objective remains the destruction of Hamas in Gaza, coupled with the demilitarization and deradicalization of the territory to prevent a recurrence of previous incidents. Netanyahu concluded by issuing a rare threat, hinting at a direct attack on Iran if Hezbollah were to escalate the conflict further along the Israel-Lebanon border.
