“Who will form INDIA Bloc?” Agnimitra Paul calls TMC ‘tukde-tukde gang’
A major administrative development has emerged ahead of the formation of the new government in West Bengal, with sources indicating that the incoming Chief Minister is expected to function from the Assembly Annex Building instead of the state secretariat at Nabanna. According to sources, the South Annex Building within the Assembly complex is being prepared to serve as a temporary Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) as administrative arrangements are being finalised before the swearing-in of the new government.
Sources said the decision has been taken amid ongoing renovation and restoration work at the historic Writers’ Building, which is also being considered for future administrative use. At the same time, the incoming Chief Minister is reportedly unwilling to operate from Nabanna. As a result, the Assembly Annex Building is being considered as an alternative administrative arrangement until a permanent setup is finalised.
Rapid interior work is currently underway inside the South Annex Building, according to sources familiar with the preparations. Special chambers for the Chief Minister, meeting halls, office cabins, and other administrative infrastructure are reportedly being set up on a priority basis. Officials and technical teams are continuously monitoring the progress of the work to ensure that the facility becomes operational at the earliest.
The arrangement is being viewed as a temporary administrative measure during the transition period. At the same time, the move is also drawing attention because the government is expected to function directly from the Assembly complex, where legislative activities are conducted. Administrative preparations inside the premises have intensified as the state moves closer to the formation of the new government.
