Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty resigns, another massive blow to TMC
BJP MLA Ashok Dinda has been summoned by New Market police station in Kolkata over allegations of misbehaving with and assaulting policemen during the party’s Nabanna campaign. The summon directs him to appear before investigators on August 17.
Police sources confirmed that a case has been registered not only against Dinda but also against several other BJP leaders in connection with the incident. The charges stem from clashes between party workers and police personnel during the protest march.
The Nabanna campaign, organised by the BJP to highlight various demands, witnessed chaotic scenes as protesters and security forces confronted each other. Authorities allege that during this confrontation, certain leaders, including Dinda, were involved in misconduct and physical assault.
The police have stated that further action will be taken based on the statements recorded and the investigation’s findings after the summoned leaders appear for questioning.
