New sensation of Mahakumbh- 'IIT Baba', an aerospace engineer

The Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, a gathering of millions for spiritual solace, has introduced an unusual figure to its attendees and the media: Abhey Singh, a former aerospace engineer from IIT Bombay, now known as 'IIT Baba.' Singh’s remarkable transition from science to spirituality has sparked curiosity among devotees.

Hailing from Haryana, Abhey Singh completed his aerospace engineering degree at the prestigious IIT Bombay. After living in Mumbai for four years, Singh took a corporate job secured through campus placements. However, his passion for photography and a deeper sense of purpose soon led him to leave his engineering career behind.

Singh pursued professional travel photography, which proved transformative. His experiences with photography shifted his philosophy on life, opening the door to a spiritual awakening. This turning point saw him transition from a physics teacher, running his own coaching centre, to a devotee of Lord Shiva, dedicating his life to exploring spiritual truths.

“Spirituality and science are intertwined,” Singh explained. “Truth is Shiva, and Shiva is beautiful. Everything is Shiva.” His ability to blend scientific reasoning with spiritual depth has set him apart in the traditional world of ascetics.

At the Maha Kumbh, Singh has become a focal point of attention, engaging with journalists in fluent English and attracting visitors eager to hear his story. His social media presence reflects his spiritual journey, boasting nearly 29,000 followers on Instagram, where he shares insights on meditation, yoga, and ancient scriptures.

For Singh, the Maha Kumbh represents a place of peace and self-discovery. His journey from an IIT graduate to a spiritual guide resonates with the message that life's purpose can take many forms, inspiring those who cross his path.
