A newborn's body was discovered wrapped in a plastic packet near Salkia GT Road in the Malipanchghara police station area of Howrah. The body, in a decomposed state, was found by cleaning staff during routine garbage collection. Police believe the child had been discarded two to three days ago. The body was likely brought from another location and abandoned at this spot, which had not been cleared of garbage for some time.
Authorities have confirmed that the area was cordoned off for investigation immediately after the discovery. Local police are now conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the abandonment of the newborn. They have initiated an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. The police are focusing on identifying the individual responsible for leaving the child in such a condition.
