Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
A gruesome discovery was made in Jharkhand’s Palamu district on Thursday evening when police recovered the severed head of a newborn baby near a cremation ground close to the Tedhwa Bridge under Medininagar Town police station limits.
Officials said the head appeared to belong to a baby around three to four days old, and the torso is yet to be found. The disturbing find has sparked panic in the local area, prompting a high-level probe into the incident.
Medininagar Town police station in-charge Jyotilal Rajwar said that efforts are ongoing to locate the missing torso. “We are investigating all possible angles. Data from hospitals in the area is being checked to identify recent births,” he added.
Police have not ruled out any possibilities, including foul play, but said there is no evidence yet to suggest the case is linked to human sacrifice. The head has been sent for forensic examination, and an FIR will be registered once more details are known.
