Bridge built in 16 crores caves in after 17 days in Dehradun; Char Dham Yatra suspended

Heavy overnight rainfall triggered a massive cave-in on the approach road to the newly inaugurated Tons River bridge at Nanda Ki Chowki in Dehradun, causing major disruption to traffic between Dehradun, Vikasnagar and Paonta Sahib in Himachal Pradesh. The collapse occurred just 16 days after the ₹16 crore bridge was inaugurated, raising concerns over infrastructure quality, drainage planning and monsoon preparedness. The incident caused significant inconvenience to commuters as authorities began assessing the extent of the damage and initiated restoration work to restore connectivity at the earliest.
