The National Investigation Agency (NIA) reached Kolkata on Saturday to record statements from the families of those killed in the Pahalgam terror attack. A three-member NIA team visited the Behala residence of Sameer Guha and documented testimonies from his relatives. The team also traveled to Bishnupurghata to meet the wife of Bitan Adhikari, another victim, and collect detailed information about the circumstances related to the incident. Manish Ranjan from Jhalda, Purulia, was the third person from West Bengal who lost his life in the attack.
According to officials, NIA teams are also gathering statements from surviving tourists and eyewitnesses of the Pahalgam attack. Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army, and paramilitary forces have launched a coordinated operation to locate and apprehend the terrorists involved. Search operations are underway in dense forests and surrounding areas of Pahalgam with the assistance of drones and modern surveillance equipment to track down suspects.
Initial investigation findings indicate that five to seven terrorists carried out the attack, supported by at least two local operatives who had received training in Pakistan. Security agencies are working to compile all intelligence related to the network behind the ambush, and search efforts in the region are ongoing.
