The presence of Nilgai (blue bull) have become a nuisance for the Maharajpura Air Force Station in Gwalior district of Madhya Pradesh. The animals are also posing a threat to the air force operations in the area. Despite repeated efforts, the officials are unable to free the air base from nilgai. Around 200 nilgai have entered the station area and are posing threats to the fighter jets of the Indian Air Force.
Gwalior Air Force Station holds a strategic importance in the country’s defense network. The air force base operates as a highly important and pivotal hub within the air force infrastructure.
Meanwhile, the nuisance from nilgai have been causing disturbances for the air force. Their presence in different areas of Maharajpura Air Force Station has posed serious threats to fighter jets operations at the base. Efforts are being made to shift the animals from the area into the wild. Authorities are also mulling to release the blue bulls into the Kuno National Park.
Currently, officers from the air force station and forest department are actively engaged in finding out a solution to the issue.
Earlier, there was also a plan to cull the nilgai. However, the plan was shelved due to animal being wild species. The forest department maintains that a suitable to the nilgai issue will be worked out soon.
