NCP leader Baba Siddique shot multiple times and dies in Mumbai Hospital
In Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, a three-storey building in Zakir Colony collapsed on Saturday, resulting in nine fatalities. The collapse initially trapped fifteen people, of whom eleven were rescued and taken to the hospital. Devastatingly, nine of these individuals succumbed to their injuries.
The identified victims include Sajid (40), his daughter Saniya (15), son Saqib (11), and Simra (1.5 years), along with Reeza (7), Naffo (63), Farhana (20), Alisa (18), and Aliya (6).
Rescue operations are underway with teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) working in challenging conditions due to ongoing rainfall. Initial reports state that of the 15 people trapped, 14 have been rescued, with nine confirmed dead and five others saved.
Amid severe flooding across 11 districts in Uttar Pradesh, which has led to significant loss of life, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced relief measures. Families of the deceased will receive Rs 4 lakh each, and aid is being distributed to those affected by the floods, with 3,056 homes reported damaged.
