Nitish Kumar may form new Government in Bihar, aligning with BJP: Sources

Speculations are rife in Bihar as sources indicate that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar could form a new government on Sunday, bringing about a potential shift in alliances with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Nitish Kumar has reportedly canceled all scheduled programs for the day, hinting at a significant political development. The political landscape in Bihar has been marked by tensions between Janata Dal United (JDU) and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) recently.

Nitish Kumar is poised to change his political stance, aligning with the BJP and subsequently claiming to establish a fresh government. The distribution of ministries in the anticipated government is expected to mirror the structure of the previous BJP-JDU coalition.

 A visible strain in the relationship between JDU and RJD was observed during a Republic Day event in Patna, where Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav were seen sitting at a distance from each other. Recent tensions led to a war of words, with former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi suggesting that Nitish Kumar's aspirations for the Prime Ministerial position had been shattered, leading to the possibility of independent participation in Lok Sabha elections or joining a different coalition.

Amid the uncertainty, JDU's political advisor and spokesperson KC Tyagi clarified that Nitish Kumar's remarks about dynasty politics were not aimed at RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav. The evolving political scenario suggests a potential realignment in Bihar's political landscape, with the details expected to unfold in the coming days.
