No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
The government on Wednesday clarified that there has been no change in LPG refill booking norms, dismissing reports suggesting revised timelines. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas stated that the existing rules remain in place and urged consumers not to panic amid circulating misinformation.
According to the ministry, current refill booking timelines continue unchanged, with a minimum gap of 25 days in urban areas and 45 days in rural areas, irrespective of the type of connection. It also highlighted that adequate LPG stocks are available across the country to meet consumer demand.
The clarification comes after reports and social media posts claimed new booking intervals for different categories of consumers, sparking confusion and concerns over possible shortages. The government advised citizens to avoid panic booking and continue with normal consumption patterns.
Officials also indicated that efforts are underway to ensure equitable distribution of LPG, particularly for commercial users such as community kitchens and small businesses, while maintaining priority supply for domestic consumers.
