Sonam Wangchuk vows to continue hunger strike as CJP reclaims Jantar Mantar stage
A worker at Jagaddal K Alliance Jute Mill, identified as Daheri Yadav, died of a sudden heart attack on Monday morning while on duty. Colleagues immediately took him to the mill’s health center, where doctors declared him dead. The incident caused immediate tension among workers present at the mill premises.
Following the death, other workers raised demands for proper compensation and support for Daheri Yadav’s family. The deceased’s family alleged, “Daheri Yadav died within the mill premises during work, but mill management remained completely indifferent. Neither was any assistance provided nor any assurance of compensation given.” They further claimed that mill officials attempted to remove the body from the premises to avoid compensation responsibility.
After protests from the workers, mill management officials were compelled to meet with the deceased’s family to discuss compensation. Jagaddal police were present at the site and worked to manage the unrest among workers. The discussions between management and the family were reported to be ongoing at the time.
