On Friday, American actress-singer Selena Gomez used her Instagram stories to defend Justin Bieber's wife Hailey Bieber. She also urged her followers to put an end to rumors about the two and their purported conflict. She said in her story that Hailey had contacted her after seeing the hateful comments and death threats she had been receiving on social media.
She wrote, “Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity. This isn’t what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying. I’ve always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop. (red heart emoji).”
Hailey also stood up to express her gratitude to Selena for standing up for her and speaking out in these "extremely trying" times. She posted on Instagram, saying, I want to thank Selena for speaking out, as her and I have been discussing the last few weeks about how to move past this ongoing narrative between her and I.”
She added that the past three weeks have been "quite painful" for everyone concerned and that the amount of hate that millions of people are witnessing in relation to this is really destructive.

”While social media is an incredible way to connect and build community, moments like this only create extreme division instead of bringing people together. Things can always be taken out of context or constructed differently from what they were intended,” she added.
The whole thing got started after Selena's fans believed Hailey and Kendall Jenner made fun of the singer's holiday photographs in a Justine Skye-starrer TikTok video. Kendall later removed the video.
