Public outcry continues in RG Kar case as more culprits remain free; Sanjay Roy not the only one
The Supreme Court, in its December 18 ruling, ordered that water, electricity, and drainage connections cannot be provided to buildings lacking a valid completion certificate (CC). The directive aims to enforce compliance with construction regulations and mandates that completion certificates be issued within three days of application to streamline the approval process.
The ruling prohibits temporary water and electricity connections for ongoing construction projects and mandates their immediate disconnection for properties without a CC. The court also specified that only properties with valid completion certificates will be eligible for new building plan approvals, in accordance with the Real Estate Regulation and Development Act (RERA).
Additionally, cases involving unauthorized constructions must be resolved within 90 days to address pending violations. The directive seeks to curb illegal developments, ensuring stricter adherence to legal norms and promoting accountability in urban infrastructure management.
