The 2023 Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to Narges Mohammadi on friday for her relentless struggle against the oppression of women in Iran and her tireless advocacy for universal human rights and freedom. The Norwegian Nobel Institute in Oslo made the announcement, highlighting the significance of her work and its resonance with the global call for justice and equality.
The Nobel Institute further acknowledged the collective efforts of hundreds of thousands of individuals who, in the past year, demonstrated against the discriminatory and oppressive policies targeting women enforced by Iran's theocratic regime.
The demonstrators rallied under the motto "Woman - Life - Freedom," which aptly encapsulates Narges Mohammadi's dedication and endeavors. While the names of the nominees were kept confidential this year, more than 350 individuals and groups were believed to be in contention for the prestigious prize.
