Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty resigns, another massive blow to TMC
Actress Nora Fatehi appeared before the National Commission for Women (NCW) in New Delhi on Thursday to address the ongoing controversy over the song "Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke" from the upcoming film KD: The Devil. The song had sparked significant public outcry and legal complaints over its allegedly vulgar lyrics and the indecent representation of women. During the hearing, Fatehi submitted a formal written apology, expressing regret for any unintended offense caused by the track.
Following the proceedings, Fatehi addressed the media, clarifying that there was never any intention to hurt public sentiments. She described the controversy as a situation she was "put in" but acknowledged her responsibility as an artist to be mindful of the content she associates with. The actress praised the Commission for being helpful throughout the process and emphasized the importance of accountability in the creative industry.
In a significant move to give back to society, Nora Fatehi announced an initiative to sponsor the education of several orphan girls. She stated that supporting these girls' education is now her primary goal following the resolution of this matter. This follows a similar corrective step taken by co-star Sanjay Dutt, who previously appeared before the NCW and committed to sponsoring the education of 50 tribal girls as part of his apology.
The controversy, which broke out shortly after the song's release in March, had led to the track being removed from YouTube amid labels of it being a "new low" for commercial cinema. While Fatehi had earlier clarified that the Hindi version was released without her approval of the specific lyrics, her appearance before the NCW marks a formal conclusion to the regulatory scrutiny. The Commission continues to emphasize that the dignity of women must be upheld in all forms of media.
