North 24 Parganas police have arrested 25-year-old Sutanu Das for creating and operating a fake HIDCO website. During the investigation, authorities traced the fraudulent website and linked email IDs, which helped identify the accused’s IP address. Das was apprehended following a detailed cyber investigation.
During the raid at Das’s residence, police seized several electronic devices, including a D-Link wireless router, a MacBook MI 2020, an Apple iPhone 13, and an MI Redmi Note 5 Pro handset. Officials confirmed that the devices are being examined to gather further digital evidence and trace potential accomplices.
Investigation revealed that the address used for registering the fake website is in Das’s name. Authorities stated that the case is under active investigation, and further action will be taken based on forensic examination of the seized devices. Police continue to probe the scope of the fraudulent operation.
