Parade begins at Red Road to celebrate India's 76th Republic Day
The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has issued a notice announcing the complete shutdown of the Tallah Pumping Station system and the IGWTP (Palta Water Works) from 9:00 a.m. on December 16 to 6:00 a.m. on December 17, 2024. This temporary suspension is necessary to facilitate the installation and repair of higher diameter valves, high-tension pumps, mechanical drives, and other essential maintenance works.
The decision marks a change from an earlier plan to suspend water supply from noon on December 14 to the morning of December 15. KMC later revised the schedule to minimize inconvenience and accommodate broader maintenance requirements. During the shutdown, filtered water supply to Boroughs I to VII and parts of Borough VIII, including Kasba, will be completely suspended.
Residents are advised to plan accordingly as normal water supply is expected to resume from 6:00 a.m. on December 17, 2024. KMC has expressed regret for any inconvenience caused and assured that the repairs aim to improve the water supply system's efficiency in the long run.
