Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
The All India Trinamool Congress is facing a fresh organisational challenge after the owner of its temporary headquarters on EM Bypass in Kolkata served a notice to vacate the premises. According to the report, the multi-storey building, used as “Trinamool Bhavan” for the past few years, has been asked to be vacated within a two-month timeframe following communication from the landlord.
Building owner Montu Saha confirmed that he had verbally informed the party leadership about the decision to vacate the premises. He stated that the party has acknowledged the notice and assured him that it will shift out of the building within the stipulated period.
The building was taken on rent in 2022 after renovation work began at the party’s original Trinamool Bhavan in Salt Lake and Topsia. Since then, the EM Bypass property owned by Montu Saha, a decorator and proprietor of “Modern Decorators,” has functioned as the party’s temporary headquarters, hosting press conferences and organisational meetings involving senior leaders.
Montu Saha denied any political pressure behind the decision and stated that some incidents of vandalism were reported outside the building after the May 4 election results, raising concerns about security of the property. He also confirmed that rent payments had been made regularly by the party during its occupation of the premises.
Political observers noted that the eviction notice comes at a time of organisational uncertainty following the party’s electoral setback, and may add to internal challenges within the Trinamool Congress as it manages its administrative arrangements and temporary office operations.
