Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
Indian Railways has introduced a significant policy shift by revising the preparation time for the first reservation chart, now allowing passengers to check their ticket status up to 10 hours before departure. This historic update by the Railway Board aims to eliminate the last-minute anxiety often faced by travelers, particularly those on waiting lists. Previously, these charts were only finalized four hours before a train’s scheduled departure, leaving many passengers in a state of uncertainty.
Under the new guidelines, the schedule is categorized by departure times to maximize convenience. For trains scheduled to depart between 5:00 AM and 2:00 PM, the first reservation chart will be ready by 8:00 PM the previous evening. For all other trains—those departing between 2:01 PM and 11:59 PM, as well as midnight departures up to 5:00 AM—the chart will be finalized exactly 10 hours prior to the journey.
Railway officials emphasized that this move is specifically designed to help passengers traveling from far-flung areas to board long-distance trains. By providing status clarity much earlier, the national carrier aims to reduce last-minute stress and help travelers plan their logistics more smoothly. This revision marks a major effort by the Board to modernize passenger services and improve the overall travel experience.
