Vandalism in Howrah over controversial painting during Durga Puja; 30 arrested
A nurse at a private hospital in Bihar narrowly escaped a gang-rape attempt on Wednesday night after slashing one of her attackers, a doctor, with a blade. The incident occurred at the RBS Health Care Centre in Gangapur, Samastipur district. One of the assaulters, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, who also serves as the hospital's administrator, was arrested along with two accomplices, Sunil Kumar Gupta and Awadhesh Kumar.
The nurse was preparing to leave for the day when the three men, all intoxicated, attempted to assault her. In a bid to free herself, she slashed Dr. Kumar’s genitals with a blade and managed to escape, hiding in a nearby field before contacting the police.
The police have recovered half a bottle of liquor, the blade used by the nurse, blood-stained clothes and three cellphones.
Officials said the three men had been drinking before trying to assault the nurse and they will also be charged under prohibition laws because Bihar is a dry state.
