A young nurse was found hanging in a room on the fourth floor of Shivam Sevasadan Nursing Home in Singur’s Borai Tematha area late Wednesday night. The deceased, a resident of Rainagar in Nandigram, had completed her nursing studies in Bengaluru last year and recently joined the facility to gain work experience.
Her family has alleged that she was raped and murdered, claiming she could not have taken her own life. They also questioned why the police removed her body before they could arrive, accusing the authorities of trying to suppress evidence.
The incident sparked tension in the area, with locals surrounding the police and staging protests. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and police under Hooghly District (Rural) jurisdiction have launched an investigation.
The victim had also appeared for the JNM exam recently and was reportedly working as a trained nurse for only a short period before the incident occurred.
