A woman identified as Shilpi Bibi was found unconscious in a narrow alley near her house in Maheshtala late night. She was taken to Vidyasagar Hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Shilpi Bibi, a nurse by profession, lived in Maheshtala. According to police sources, her body was found around 2 AM, shortly after she had stepped out of her house.
Officials said Shilpi had left home to search for her husband, who was not present at the time. She did not return, and after some time, locals found her lying unconscious near a nearby residence. Police reached the spot and transported her to the hospital, but she was declared dead on arrival. The body was recovered in front of a particular house, and the resident of that house is currently being questioned by investigators.
Shilpi’s husband has termed the incident a murder. The police are questioning him about his whereabouts during the incident and whether he suspects anyone. Officials have started reviewing CCTV footage from nearby cameras to determine the sequence of events. The post-mortem report is awaited to ascertain the exact cause of death. The case is currently under active investigation.
