Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty resigns, another massive blow to TMC
The cinematic world is buzzing as the makers of the high-octane spy thriller Dhurandhar officially announced the release date for its much-awaited sequel, Dhurandhar 2. Following the massive box office success of the first installment, which released on December 5, 2025, director Aditya Dhar revealed that the second part is scheduled to hit the big screens on March 19, 2026. The announcement was first teased through a post-credit scene in the first film, creating an instant wave of excitement among fans who stayed back in theaters.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, the franchise features an ensemble powerhouse cast including Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal. The first film has already rewritten box office records, crossing the ₹500 crore mark in record time and becoming one of the highest-grossing Indian films of 2025. Given the overwhelming demand from South Indian markets, the producers have decided to expand the sequel into a full-scale Pan-India release, dubbing it in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.
The narrative of the series is rooted in intense geopolitical tensions and real-life incidents like the IC-814 hijacking and the 2001 Parliament attack. Ranveer Singh plays an undercover agent infiltrating Karachi's criminal underworld, a role that has earned him immense critical acclaim. The decision to release the sequel just three months after the first part suggests that both chapters were filmed consecutively, a logistical feat rarely attempted in mainstream Bollywood action dramas.
With the release date set for March 19, 2026, Dhurandhar 2 is poised for a massive clash at the box office with Yash’s pan-India film Toxic. Despite the competition, trade analysts are optimistic, given the first film's "A" rated success and its relentless grip on the box office. Fans are eagerly waiting to see how the story concludes, with the sequel promised to be even more action-heavy and intense than its predecessor.
