A shocking road mishap turned deadly in South Delhi when a speeding Mercedes G63 lost control slamming into three pedestrians waiting at an auto stand and claiming one life in an instant. The accident unfolded around midnight in Vasant Kunj area near the bustling Ambience Mall, where the luxury Mercedes driven by 29-year-old Karol Bagh resident Shivam, due to a sudden road diversion first crashes into a pole before ramming the victims. The three men, all employees at a nearby restaurant in the Ambience mall, were simply heading home after a long shift when tragedy struck.
23-year-old Rohit from Uttarakhand's Chamoli was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital, while his two colleagues, aged 35 and 23, fight for recovery with critical injuries. Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene as the high-end vehicle, borrowed from Shivam's friend Abhishek flips wildly before the impact, with Shivam behind the wheel alongside his wife and elder brother after attending a wedding. Delhi Police rushed to the spot upon receiving distress calls, securing the mangled car and rushing the injured to a nearby hospital for urgent care.
The quick response highlighted the dangers of high-speed driving in crowded urban spots, especially late at night when diversions can catch drivers off guard. Shivam has been arrested, and authorities are piecing together the full sequence through preliminary inquiries and witness accounts, promising strict legal action to ensure justice for the grieving family of victim. This heartbreaking incident serves as a stark reminder for safer roads, urging drivers to slow down and stay alert in diversion zones amid Delhi's growing traffic woes.
