By-polls announced on 6 Assembly & 1 Lok Sabha seat of Bengal on Nov 13
NEET irregularities issue, which was a mega blow to Indian education, has hit the parliament working as well. Today, during the debate on President Draupadi Murmu's speech, the opposition parties staged a walk-out. This happened as BJP leader Anurag Thakur initiated the debate.
Newly appointed LoP Rahul Gandhi also raised the NEET issue. "A message is disseminated to the country, from Parliament. We want to give a message to students that the NEET issue is important for the Parliament. So, to send this message we want the Parliament to discuss this," he was quoted as saying.
Opposition parties are demanding a separate one-day discussion over the medical exam irregularities. Speaker Om Birla responded to the opposition's request saying that there was no convention of taking up any other discussion during the debate on the motion of thanks. "Members can give a separate notice for the discussion on NEET", he said.
Unfortunately, the response didn't go down well with the opposition members after which they staged a walkout. Additionally, the MPs of the INDI alliance also staged a protest outside the Parliament over 'centre's misuse of ED and CBI'.
